The Ministry of Communication Technologies organized the 5th edition of the annual Conference on Open Source Software at Karthago Le Palace Hotel - Gammarth, on December 15th 2009. The theme of this year is:

« Fostering Innovation and Growth with Open Source Software »

In addition to its integration within the Open Source Software National Plan, this year’s edition reflects the national strategy for building the knowledge society and positioning  Tunisia as a regional ICT hub.
The Conference will emphasize the growing and catalysing role of Open Source Software in fostering innovation and driving technological trends. Open Source Software are revolutionizing various high value-added fields such as Cloud Computing, Social Networks, Mobile and Embedded Software, SaaS, etc. In fact, Open Source Software are powerful lever to strengthen competitiveness and create new enterprises and new jobs.
This fifth conference is characterized  by the presence of outstanding figures in the Open Source world, such as Dr. Robert S. Sutor (Vice-President of Open Source and Linux, IBM), Mr. Jim Lacey (President and CEO of Linux Professional Institute), Mr. Jean Pierre Laisné (Director of Open Source Strategy at Bull), Mr. Cyril Meunier (Consulting Manager, IDC), and many others.
